Sears, Alfred Lawrence – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alfred “Sonny” Sears, age 66 of North River, announce his sudden passing on Thursday July 20, 2023, at his home. Born in Shelburne N.S., he was the son of Ruby (Atkinson) Sears, formally of Shag Harbor and the late Alfred Sears Sr. Besides his family, mining was his passion having worked in several locations throughout Canada. Sonny was in his element hunting and fishing with his sons and friends. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 45 years, Sharon (Griffiths) Sears; sons, Corey Perry (Sarah), Cape Sable Island, Steven Sears (Jennifer MacKinnon) of Barney’s River and Shane Sears at home; brother, Fred Sears, Liverpool; sisters, Gloria Banks and Kathy Porter of Yarmouth and Judy Malone, Shag Harbor; grandchildren, Anna Marie Staples Sears, Pictou, and Jared Staples Sears, Belmont. Alfred was predeceased by his daughter Sherry Sears and brother Larry Sears, Shag Harbor.
