Obituary for Clarence Crowe

Clarence Crowe
Crowe, Clarence Lionel – Age 83, Earltown. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Clarence Crowe, on August 5, 2023, at the age of 83. Dad was born June 8, 1940, in East New Annan, NS to the late Lonel and Carrie Crowe. He attended a one room schoolhouse in East New Annan and then attended Tatamagouche Rural High, graduating in 1958.

Dad worked as a printer in Toronto. He then returned to Nova Scotia where he met the love of his life, Leona, and they married in 1967.

Dad was self-employed for six years, then worked in the feed industry at Co-op Atlantic and William A Flemmings. He later worked for New Life, from where he retired.

Dad was a strong union supporter, holding various positions. He served on the Board of Directors at Willow Lodge for several years. He volunteered in the community, was a trustee of the Earltown Community Center and worked at the Earltown Maple Festival for around 35 years. He also ran the Earltown card parties for around ten years.

He spent a lot of time keeping his large property looking good and enjoyed gardening. He also had a love for old-time country music. In earlier years, he curled, bowled and loved to write poetry. Dad was a big sports fan, especially boxing, baseball and curling.

Dad is survived by his six children, Andy (Jay-J), David, Steven, Jolene (Chris) VanTassel, Kelly (Chris) Ryan and Amanda (Chris); eight grandchildren whom he adored, Brooklyn, Keegan, Quinn, Aaron, Alex, Colson, Crosby, and Maddison and his sister, Eileen Crowe.

He was predeceased by his wife, Leona; parents, Lonel and Carrie; brothers, Lloyd, Bernard, Lyman; sisters, Faye Steeves and Hazel Reader.

Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Earltown Cemetery or Tatamagouche Mountain Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10th from 6-8pm, with a funeral service on Friday, August 11th at 3pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, NS. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com.
