Obituary for Blaine Geddes

Blaine Geddes
Geddes, Blaine Franklyn – Age 75, Truro. The family of Blaine Franklyn Geddes is saddened to announce his passing on September 5, 2023, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. He was born in Alton to the late Franklyn and Evelyn (Murphy) Geddes.

Blaine is survived by his wife, Belinda (McLane); daughter, Krista (Marc) Schurman, Kensington, PEI; son, Allan (Nicole) Geddes, Halifax; grandchildren, Josh and Katie Geddes, Ben, Quinton and Samantha Schurman; sister, Nancy Doyle, Truro, as well as nieces, Karrie and Jenny.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Lonnie and Anne (Lockart) Murray and brother-in-law, Arthur “Butch” Doyle.

Blaine was employed by Tooles Mechanic Shop, Wilson Equipment, and finally, the LaFarge Cement plant in Brookfield for 30 years.

He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Everyone would be able to tell stories of the way he individually touched their lives. As much as he and Belinda loved to travel with their friends, his favourite place to go was the cottage at Hart Lake (Wentworth). Along with the many hours of cutting and splitting wood, so many wonderful memories were created there with family and friends including snowmobiling, four-wheeling, horseshoes, boating, campfires, and happy hours. He mostly enjoyed seeing his children and grandchildren grow up to love and appreciate cottage life as much as he did.

Blaine was a volunteer and past member of the Fundy Trail Snowmobile Club, an active member of the Hart Lake Cottage Owners Association and if the club existed, he would be an honorary member of the " Smashed Vehicles Club," spending many hours at Fillmore's Auto Sales, and other local auto salvage businesses.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colchester East-Hants Hospice Society or the Colchester Community Support Society “Hope Not Hunger”.

A private family graveside service will take place in Brookfield Westside Cemetery. A celebration of Blaine’s life will be held on Sunday, September 10th from 1–3pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Online condolences are available at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
