Benjamin “Benio” Noel Sylliboy Jr. – Age 79, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.Born in Truro, NS, he was a son of the late Benjamin Sylliboy Sr. and Elizabeth Marr-Sylliboy.

Ben worked many jobs throughout his life. He has worked in silviculture, carpentry, and as Millbrook’s Alcohol and Drug Counsellor through N.A.D.A.C.A. In Ben’s younger years, he had a passion for karate and trained and competed in the sport. He was a huge fan of Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris movies.

Ben loved being an Elder; he embraced his spirituality and lived it. He offered many teachings and helped guide those who wanted to learn. Ben enjoyed taking part in community and family functions. One of his favorite times was when the Elders would go fishing. He loved his Millbrook community, and his favorite time of year was the Millbrook Annual Powwow.

Ben is survived by his son, Michael Sr. (Sheena), Millbrook; brothers, William, Millbrook, Brian (Pauline) Kahnawake, QC; sisters, Bernadette (Vernon), Esgenoôpetitj, NB, Tracy, Millbrook; grandchildren, Shania, Shanice, Felicity, Michael Jr., Zylen and one great grandchild, Ahlyzah, all of Millbrook; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Isaac Sylliboy; wife, Annette; brother, Stephen John; sister, Marlyn; stepdaughter, Tammy (Duncan); stepson, Kevin.

Visitation will held at his home, 921 Willow Street, Millbrook, on Monday, October 30th, 2023 from 2-3pm for family, then open to the community at 3pm until time of the Funeral Mass which will be held on Wednesday, November 1st at 11am in Sacred Heart Church, Millbrook. Father Jim O’Connor will be officiating. There will be a Salité and reception in Millbrook Community Hall following the Funeral Mass. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ben’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
