Obituary for Dana Flemming

Dana Flemming
Dana Laurie Flemming
April 30, 1952 – November 8, 2023

The families of Dana Laurie Flemming are sad to announce the passing of a dear husband, brother and uncle in the Victoria General Hospital on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

Dana grew up in Brookfield and lived in the family home he knew as a child. Upon completion of high school, Dana attended the Truro District Vocational School to complete a certificate in Drafting. He worked with Horner and Associates for a number of years, travelling throughout the province working on local construction projects.

In later years, Dana enjoyed working as a bus driver with Colchester East Hants School District. He took special joy in dressing up as Santa at Christmas to distribute candy, as well as provide ice cream vouchers at the end of the school year.

Dana became an honorary Cape Bretoner when he married his wife of 40 years, Judy. They enjoyed many gatherings at their spot on the Stewiacke River. Dana and Judy participated in the Brookfield area Terry Fox events. A Farmville community of friends will miss his presence as an enthusiastic player of the game.

Dana is survived by his wife, Judy (McKeigan); brother, Ralph (Marie) Flemming and sister, Karen (David) Torraville; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Dunlop, Pat (James) Canty and Debbie (David) Atkinson, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by father, Lloyd and mother, Margaret (Fisher) Flemming; father-in-law, Duncan, and mother-in-law, Freda McKeigan.

The families wish to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro and the Victoria General Hospital for their compassionate care.

Memorial donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.

An informal Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, November 19th, beginning at 2pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Online condolences may be sent to www.ColchesterCommunity.com.
