Doris Margaret Kennedy (Gibson), Age 78, Hilden, passed away with her children by her side on December 20, 2023, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Lanesville, NS, on March 6,1945, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Hilda (Andrews) Gibson.

Doris was a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She knitted them all mittens and slippers and made quilts by hand for her grandchildren. Doris also enjoyed going to the bingo halls in the early years and later played bingo online at home. She was an avid computer user where she made many friends. On sunny days, Doris loved to spend time with her friends outside or drive to Tim Horton’s where she would enjoy a coffee.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Diana (Hilden) and her children Brittany, Logan, and Molly; son Jeff (Donna) of Hilden, and their children Kaylie, Taylor, Landyn, Brandon, and Felicia; nine great-grandchildren; brothers Thomas (Chezzetcook); Robert (Hilden); Ralph (Brentwood); and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Laurie; brothers, Jack Gibson and Wesley Andrews, and an infant sister.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the nurses and doctors at the CEHHC Palliative Care unit for the wonderful and compassionate care of their mother.

Donations in Doris’s memory may be made to the Lower Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. A family interment of Ashes will be held at the Lower Pleasant Valley Cemetery in the spring of 2024.
