Barbara Eileen (Alexander) Coombes
April 22, 1947 - February 8, 2024

On February 8, 2024, Barb or, as she was lovingly referred to as, “Grammy Wrinkles”, passed away peacefully in Colchester East Hants Heath Centre, with her husband and daughters by her side. Born in Truro in 1947, she was the first child to the late Royce and Ileen (O'Brien) Alexander of Debert.

Barb was the most amazing wife, mother, grand- and great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill; daughters, Heather and Krystal; sister, Sandra; brothers, Mitch (Anne), Tim (Sheryl), and Steve (Andrea); grandchildren, Allison (Joe), Sarah (Malcolm), Thomas (Marley), and Katelyn; great-grandchildren, Lennon, Averie, Cora, Adalynn, and Danika; and many extended family members who cared greatly for her.

Barb enjoyed spending the warm days out in her backyard, gardening and watching the birds and other animals. When she had to stay inside, she loved working on jigsaw puzzles and watching nature shows. She cherished spending time with her grand- and great-grandchildren. It brought her great joy to play with the little ones. She also loved her "grand pups" and they could often be found giving Grammy kisses! She had the best sense of humor, and everyone was welcome to be themselves around her. She was always laughing and smiling and did so right to the very end.

Barb's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all of the hard-working staff at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, especially to the caring and devoted doctors and nurses in the ICU, who made such a difficult time just a little easier.

Mom always taught us that above all, be kind. We are encouraging the people who loved and cared about her to do something kind for someone else.
