Obituary for Nancy Whittle (MacKeigan)

Whittle, Nancy (MacKeigan) - 70, Carrolls Corner. Died peacefully in her sleep on March 14, 2019 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre.

Born in Florence, Cape Breton, the 7th of 10 children for the late John Purves and Jean Gilchrist (Maxwell) MacKeigan.

Nancy was full of life and ready for any adventure, whether accidentally pushing her sister, Sheilagh, off the barn swing or wandering through the pasture collecting wild roses while a bull was in residence. She loved to garden, travel, and cuddle with the family dog, Maggie.

Every animal loved her and no person could forget her youthful appearance, unique perspective, and turn of phrase.

Nancy traveled across the United States and spent several winters in Florida and Virginia with her daughter, perusing the stores. Every dollar store, craft shop, and all-you-can-eat buffet between Nova Scotia and Florida were examined by Nancy - often in the company of her sister (and partner in crime), Sheilagh.

Nancy loved the joy and celebration of Christmas!! Family and friends well remember her many snowmen and Christmas decorations on every available house surface from November to January. No Christmas shop had better!

A Christian for many years, Nancy now resides in Heaven with her Lord and Saviour. She feels no more pain and this is our family's comfort. One day we will see her again.

Besides her parents, Nancy is predeceased by her sisters, Maxine and Sheilagh and brothers, 'Sonny' and Dougie.

Nancy is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Art; her daughter, Belinda Jean and her brothers, Gordon, Raymond, Andy, Henry, and David.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. By request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A brief committal service will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery, near North Sydney, in May. Donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada.
