McCallum, Rufus Elroy – 85, Hilden, passed away on January 23, 2020 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Upper Onslow, he was a son of the late Harry McCallum and Florence Ettinger. Rufus was a valued employee with Wilsons Fuels for over 25 years. He was a “Jack-of-all-trades” and was always willing to help with the needs of others. He loved to travel. He enjoyed woodworking and building clocks and furniture for family. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean McCallum; daughters, Darlene (David) Cail, Hilden, Laurie Ann Pickering (Alain Bilodeau), Lower Sackville, NS; son, Darrell “Bim” (Julie), Markstay, ON; sister, Eunice Nolan; grandchildren, Greg (Becky) Cail, Karen (Tim) Hill, Joel McCallum, Lisa McCallum and Brendan Pickering; great grandchildren, Jayden, Keely Cail, Gage Hill, Dalton, Chloe and Avery McCallum and Jeb Pickering along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
