Obituary for Adolphus "Al" Fifield

Fifield, Adolphus β€œAl” Junior – 82, Truro, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 29, 2020 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Twillingate, NL, he was a son of the late Adolphus and Kathleen (Rideout) Fifield and birth mother, Minetta Guy. Born in Newfoundland, he loved the outdoors, and even when he left Newfoundland it was like saltwater ran through his blood. He was a wonderful carpenter, a great speaker, always had a song in his heart and he often wrote poetry. He loved sing-a-longs and a good cup of tea. He adored his family who were everything to him, especially his wife, children and grandchildren. Al and May were also foster parents. He will be missed by his many friends who will long remember him as being a jokester. Greatly loved and forever missed would be an understatement. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, May (Brace); daughters, Sharon Brooks, Bible Hill, Kimberley Gandy, Valley, Kathleen (Atsushi) Shigeoka, Japan, Monica Fifield, Bible Hill; sons, Kevin (Tanya), Truro; sister, Marilyn (Ted) Decker, Embree, NL; grandchildren, Christina Brooks, Jillian Stewart, Kaleb Fifield, Tamara Walsh, Ruth, Sara and Grace Gandy, Kaito Shigeoka and Ryder Rushton as well as six great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Ruth Dorey, Grace Hill and Sadie Philips; brothers, Hedley, Clifford, David, Sherman and Wallace. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3rd from 1p.m. until time of service at 2p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Connie Stewart officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the V.O.N. Live webcasting will begin at 1:58p.m. (Atlantic Time) and is available along with online condolences at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
