Obituary for Eric "Gordon" Rutherford

Rutherford, Eric “Gordon” age 82, Glenholme, passed away on March 10, 2020 in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born on March 24, 1937 in East Mines, NS, the only son of the late Clarence Delano and Laura Christine (Simpson) Rutherford of Glenholme, NS. Gordon is survived by his beloved wife, Edith; sons, Wade (Twilla), Dana (Tara); beautiful grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, Grayce and Mason. Gordon worked at Nova Scotia Tractors and Equipment, (Caterpillar) Halifax for 22 years as a Field Serviceman then was self-employed as a heavy duty equipment technician for ten years. He enjoyed his many wood working tools in the basement as well as his garage work, outdoor activities, driving and travelling. Gordon loved music, especially Newfoundland tunes. Even after losing his sight in 2001, he enjoyed travelling, visiting with family, friends and attending dances. He loved to chat with anybody and everybody. He was always willing to share an experience or a spot where he visited as he travelled across our great country and through the USA. Gordon was always there to help solve any problem and always believed in helping others. He truly loved his family and was proud of his much-loved grandchildren. Gordon was a member of the Cobequid United Church, Masstown and the Masonic Lodge – North Star Lodge #74, A.F. & A.M., Londonderry, N.S. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 16th from 1-2 p.m. with a Masonic Service beginning at 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service with Rev. Carolyn Wilson-Wynne officiating.
