Obituary for Mary "Phyllis" Campbell (Poirier)

Campbell, (Poirier) Mary Phyllis, age 93, Truro, passed away on March 18, 2020 with loved ones by her side. She was a proud Acadian, born February 1, 1927 in D'Escousse, Cape Breton. She was a daughter of the late Captain Frederick Poirier and Melanie Anne Poirier. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Hugh Joseph Campbell; son, Ronald Joseph Campbell; siblings, Valerie Chiasson, Clo Galloway, Clarisse Poirier, Clarence Poirier, and Raymond Poirier. She is survived by daughter, Lynda Campbell (Larry); grandson, Pascal Moss, Vancouver Island, BC; daughter, Barbara Gottselig (Dave); granddaughter, Carly Tysick (Jason), Whistler, BC; daughter, Wendy Stonehouse (Joe), grandson, Joey Stonehouse (Michelle); great granddaughter, Breanna Stonehouse, Truro; granddaughter, Jennifer Holman (Peter); great step-grandsons, Lucas Holman, (Ashlynn) and Nathan Holman, Truro; daughter, Jacqueline Pinkney (Dale) grandson, Michael Pinkney (Jennifer); granddaughters, Angel (DJ) and Suzie Pinkney, Truro; daughter, Beverly Campbell (Darrell); grandson, Randy Moquin (Alysha), Vancouver Island, BC. Phyllis was a dedicated nurse working for many years at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. She was often referred to as the comforting voice you woke up to in the recovery room. She was a natural humanitarian, opening her home and her heart to anyone in need. Her baking and cooking were legendary and consoled many families as they went through hard times. She enjoyed camping, fishing and swimming and was one to keep busy feeding and mothering her five girls and their friends. Her children and grandchildren continue to share the legend of her baking and cooking and of the unforgettable compassion she held for all. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Shannex Vimy Court who cared for her during her time there as a resident. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment to follow in Robie St. Cemetery.
