Obituary for Colleen Cox (Coyle)

Cox, Colleen Marie – Truro. It is with great sadness that we, the family of Colleen Marie Cox (Coyle), announce her passing. Our Mom passed suddenly and unexpectedly in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro early on Easter Monday morning, April 13, 2020. Colleen was born on February 14, 1928 in Truro. Colleen was predeceased by her husband, G. Foster Cox in 2002; parents, Henry McLaughlan Coyle and Esther Marie Taggart (Coyle, Sandell); stepfather, Pat Taggart; brother, Gerald Coyle; granddaughter, Margaret (Maggie) Colleen Elizabeth Cox; mother-in-law, Marie Cox (Terrio); father-in-law, Wilfred Cox and sister-in-law, Natalie Morrison (Roy). Colleen is survived by her five children, Peter (Gail), Trudy, Michael, Paul (Karen Archibald) and Colin; granddaughter, Emily Parliament (Ian); grandson, Jesse Cox and step grandchildren, David Gardiner (Carlee) and Kay, Reid and Mary Archibald. Colleen was very proud of her six great grandchildren, Lily, Sam and Nora Parliament and Emilia, Bridget and Callaghan Gardiner. Colleen is also survived by her younger brother, Richard Coyle (Jean) as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Our Mom grew up on Broad Street in Truro. Colleen and Foster settled into their new family home on Smith Avenue in 1956 with their then young family, raising their five children literally just around the corner from Mom’s childhood home. Our Mom loved her vegetable and flower gardens as well as her antiques and china pieces. Her home was a showcase for these prized possessions. In her senior years, Mom loved to attend auctions and yard sales and for many years she was a fixture at the Fundy Mall Flea Market until it became too difficult to set up her beautiful display of for-sale items. We are very grateful that our Mom, with some help, was able to remain in the family home during her final years. Home was always Mom's place of comfort and hospitality was her greatest strength. Our Mom lived for her family and we will forever miss her kindness, wisdom and unconditional love. Rest in peace Mom. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. A celebration of Colleen's life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maggie's Place in Truro as this Centre holds a special place in Colleen's heart.
