Obituary for "Mike" Charles Malcolm Smith

Smith, Charles Malcolm “Mike” – age 81, Truro. It is with saddened hearts that the family of “Mike” Smith announces his sudden passing on April 16, 2020 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. He was born in Bible Hill, one of four sons, to the late Russell Roy and Dora Jane (Bartlett) Smith. A machinist by trade, Mike began his career at Kennametal of Canada in Hamilton, ON where he also met the love of his life, Julia. He was also employed by Scott Truck and Newmac in Debert, Smith’s Texaco in Bible Hill and finally retiring to Smith’s Skate Sharpening. A couple of his passions were model railroads and playing guitar. Mike is survived by his loving wife of over 61 years, Julia (Hall); daughters, Julia (Stephen) Collins, Diana (Andrew) Leadbetter and Naomi (Donald) McHugh; grandchildren, Anthony (Natasha), Amanda (Jared), Victoria (Nick), CJ McHugh; great grandchildren, Sawyer, Delaney, Wyatt; sister-in-law, Elaine Smith as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Roy, Keith and Gerald and sister-in-law, Penny Smith. No visitation or service by request. A celebration of life will be held once directives for COVID-19 permit and a notice will be placed on Diana’s Facebook page.
