McCallum, Joanne Mary (Higgins) – age 69, Valley. The passing of Joanne Mary McCallum occurred on April 27, 2020 at home. Joanne was born to Jacqueline and Walter Higgins on October 1, 1950. The first eight years of her life were spent living with her beloved grandmother, Marcella (DeCoste) Johnston. On August 30, 1969, Joanne married the love of her life, Stuart E. McCallum. In 1971, they had their only child, a beautiful daughter, Michelle Lyan McCallum. To their sorrows, Michelle passed away in 1991. Throughout their marriage, they lived in many parts of Canada as Stuart was in the Canadian Navy. Joanne is survived by her loving husband, Stuart; mother-in-law, Doris L. McCallum; brothers, Gary (Terry), Terry (Tim); sisters, Wanda Johnson, Brenda (Craig) Paris; Elva, Mike and Shannon Haggarty; Tara, Craig and Jacy Hingley as well as their extended families. In these trying times, Stuart would like to extend his gratitude to the R.C.M.P., E.H.S. and the Colchester Community Funeral Home for their support. He would also like to thank family and friends for their kindness and care during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, Joanne asked that donations be sent to Diabetes Research Foundation or Canadian Cancer Research Society. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
