Obituary for Scott Schneider

Schneider, W. Scott – Age 69, of Truro. It is with great sadness that we announce that following a sudden stroke, Scott passed away peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary on September 11, 2020. He was born in Manchester, N.H. on June 28, 1951 to the late Walter A. Schneider and Shirley J. (Corson) Schneider. Scott is survived by his wife of 46 years, Beth (Skerry) Schneider; his children, Aaron (Suzannah) Schneider, Justin Schneider, Chelsea (John) Groves and his sweet grandchildren, Madeleine and Lochlain. He is also survived by his sisters, Diane Schneider and Jill (Aaron) Alexander; his sister-in-law, Carole Fuller and brother-in-law, Terry (Marylee) Coldwell as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.

Besides his parents, Scott was predeceased by his amazing children, Ashley and Katie; brother-in-law, John Fuller and his mother and father-in-law, Pauline and Merle Skerry.

Scott grew up spending his summers fishing, boating and water skiing at his favourite place, Lake Winnipesaukee in Moultonborough, N.H. After graduating from West High School in Manchester, N.H. in 1969, he attended Woodstock Music Festival solidifying his love of music. He then moved to Wolfville, NS to attend Acadia University. While at Acadia, he made many friendships, played basketball and was Chief of Campus Police. It was at Acadia where he met the love of his life, Beth and settled in Nova Scotia.

After receiving his B.B.A., Scott worked as a realtor at Atlantic Trust in Wolfville then for The Bank of Nova Scotia in the Annapolis Valley until he and Beth began a career in retail, opening Schneider's Electronic Express in Truro, N.S. His successful retail career at "The Store" spanned over twenty years. He later worked for Hick's Financial before founding Schneider Property Management. Property Management combined Scott's love of people and real estate allowing him to make lifelong friendships with both his property owners and tenants. He also returned to his roots and sold Real Estate for Prudential Woods Realty and Coldwell Banker-Open Door Realty.

Scott was a proud member of the Truro community and supported many local sports teams and clubs. He was a past volunteer for the Colchester Community Workshop, the Downtown Truro Partnership and the Truro Chamber of Commerce. He was also an active member and former President of the Acadia Alumni Association.

While business and community were important to Scott, his top priorities were his friends and his family. He loved family vacations to Squaw Mountain, Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Florida (Disney), Lake Winnipesaukee and most recently, Mexico and Seattle where he was able to spend treasured time with his grandchildren. One of Scott’s favorite things to do was to read to his children and grandchildren before they went to bed at night and these special times will be forever in their hearts. Other passions included barbequing, making beer/wine, traveling the world with his beautiful wife, Beth and great friends to Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Costa Rica, trekking across Europe and most recently Portugal. Scott will always be known for his kind heart, infectious smile and his love of great food and drinks shared with friends and family.

After the loss of his precious Katie and Ashley and later adjusting to life as a double amputee, Scott never lost his love for life. He was an example of perseverance and strength and was an inspiration to all who knew him. Scott will be greatly missed and will stay in our hearts forever. He can now rest in peace with all of those who left before him, most importantly Katie and Ashley.

Cheers to Scott as he rocks on listening to his favorite music from the 60’s/70’s.
