Obituary for Tara Winship (Asseer)

Winship, Tara - Age 85, Truro, passed away peacefully in her home with her daughter by her side on November 3, 2020. She was predeceased by her parents, Hamdam and Abraham Asseer; sister, Rosie Parvin; niece, Martha Asseer and husband, Charles Winship. She is survived by brother, Sam Asseer; sisters, Fereshteh Mohajerani and Shekowfeh Asseer; daughter, Dr. Roya Murray (Michael) and sons, Robert Crow and Timothy Crow (Melissa); six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Tara lived a full and adventurous life. She was born in Sistan, Iran. She moved to London, England at the age of 19 to study Nursing. There she met and married Sub Lt. Clifford Crow, moved back to Canada and began to raise their family.
Tara worked as a nurse in Victoria, B.C., then moved to Halifax where she became a successful real estate agent. She also opened and ran two of her own clothing boutiques, ‘Chez Tara’ in Halifax and ‘Winship’ in Toronto. She managed the iconic ‘Chez Catherine’, in Toronto for 25 years.
Tara retired in 1999 and moved to Truro to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She joined and was baptized, in the Immanuel Baptist Church. She lived a life of faith and was an active member of the congregation, whom she loved.
Tara elevated hospitality to an art form. Everyone who crossed her threshold left with a full stomach, or at least a meal or a plate of cookies to take home.
Tara has a place in the hearts of all who knew her. Her zest for life, passionate nature and generosity will be dearly missed by her family and all of her friends.
