Douglas "Doug"  Glawson
Glawson, Douglas Emery – Age 94, Truro. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2021 at the age of 94.

Douglas was born in Oak Lake, Manitoba. For most of his working years, he was a businessman in the logging industry. He was an active member of the St. John’s Anglican Church and was well-known for his pancake suppers. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #43 and the Central Shriners Club. He had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel with his wife, Helen. In his retirement years, Douglas enjoyed participating in bowling leagues and attending senior dances where he and Helen loved to Polka. He made many special friends during his enjoyable winters in Florida. One of his greatest pastimes was playing cards and sitting around the campfire with his camping friends. Douglas was most passionate about gathering together with his brothers and sisters, kids, and grandkids. His kindness, wisdom, and enthusiasm for helping others touched many lives.

Douglas is survived by his beloved wife, Helen; his adored children, Cindy (David) Fulton, Truro, Janice (Calvin) Purdy, Brookside and Darrell (Donna) Terry, Truro. Douglas leaves his cherished grandchildren, Mason Fulton (Ashley Wicks), Vancouver, BC, Mandy Fulton (Misha Rabinovich), Toronto, ON, Kaeleigh Purdy (Cody Burns), Onslow Mtn., Brett Purdy (Angela MacKeigan), Truro, Trevor (Shannon) Terry, Riverview, NB and Todd Terry, Truro. He leaves behind four great grandchildren. Douglas also leaves his dearly loved siblings, Duncan (Dorothy) Glawson, Jean Fraser, Elva (Fred) Fraser and Harris (Agnes) Glawson. He was predeceased by his parents, Wallace and Hazel Glawson; siblings, Edith Messervey, Harold Glawson, Gladys Prest and Kenny Glawson.

A private family funeral service will be held in St. John’s Anglican Church, Truro with the Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Spring Interment in Terrace Hill Cemetery. The service will be uploaded to the funeral home webpage for viewing Friday morning.

We thank all of his caregivers at The Mira Nursing Home for their exceptional support and care. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed to Souls Harbour Rescue Mission or charity of choice.
