Obituary for Elsie Gamble

Gamble, Elsie Jean – Age 88, Bible Hill. On April 15, 2021, Mom completed her journey as she lived her life, with dignity and grace, in the arms of her loving family. Born in Old Barns, she was a daughter of the late Perley and Helene (Stevens) Lynds.

Mom worked in fashion retail for a number of years in Truro. She was a member of St. David’s United Church, a life member of the United Church Women, past member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Elm Chapter 48 and past President of the Truro Stroke Club. Mom was a woman of great faith which carried her through many trials over her lifetime. She did her best to share this with us by taking us to Sunday school and church every week and encouraging us throughout our lives by example. She had many interests and talents. At a very young age, she developed a love for books and was an avid reader all through her life. She enjoyed flowers, long drives, bowling and good friends, but her greatest joy was dancing, which she did at every opportunity.

She is survived by her son, David; daughters, Valarie Sibley (Vernon), Kathryn Gamble (Zane), Sylvia Gamble (Robert) and Holly Eldridge; grandchildren, Jillian, Alisa, Andrew, Shannon, Derek, Brad, Joel, Melanie, Travis, Mathew, Tyler, Jennifer, Helene and Steven as well as 21 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.

Mom was predeceased by husband, Ronald Gamble; daughter, Rhonda and son-in-law, Darrell Eldridge.

We would like to thank the staff of the CEHHC Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care and compassion during these last weeks.

A Graveside service will take place at a later date in Old Barns Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
