Obituary for Paul Crowe

CROWE, Paul Randolph – Salmon River, Colchester County died at home on Saturday April 17, 2021 at the age of 62 years as a result of a cardiac event.

Paul was born in Old Barns, Colchester County to the late James E. and Atarah (Anne) Crowe (nee Beckman), the third of their four sons. After high school, he enrolled in the Audio-Visual Technology program at the Colchester Regional Vocational School. Following graduation, he began work for the (then) Eastern Cablevision. Later, like many Atlantic Canadians of that era, Paul went out west to seek fame and fortune and worked in the northern mining communities such as Thompson, Manitoba. More recently, Paul graduated from the Electrical Technician Program at NSCC Kings Tech in the Annapolis Valley, completed his apprenticeship, and worked as a journeyman electrician until health issues forced him out of full time work.

Paul, whenever his health permitted him to do so, enjoyed biking and could be seen about town either on his mountain bike or his three wheeled recumbent “Cat trike” which generated interest and questions wherever he went. He loved history, was an avid reader and made frequent use of the local library for books, movies and internet access to stay connected to friends both near and far. He considered the library and its resources underappreciated given all it offers. Well versed in a variety of subjects, he was always up for a good and lively discussion on whatever topic area you might choose. Pick an issue for debate, pick a side and he was ready to go!

In addition to his parents, Paul was pre-deceased by his brother, Matthew (2020) and more recently, his brother, James (Jimmy) in February of this year. He is survived by the last member of his immediate family, his brother, John. He will also be sorely missed by his friends at the “Wednesday Night War Games” and the Saturday morning breakfast group at the A&W and of course, his cats, both the ones that were his and the ones that just dropped by for a visit and a bite to eat.

Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the Colchester-East Hants Public Library or to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. No service or visitation by request. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
