Dr. William "Bill"  Peters
Dr. William “Bill” Peters, 96, Truro, NS, passed away on October 25, 2021 leaving his wife, Gladys (Fast) after 72 years of marriage; sons, Bruce Peters (Corrine Smith) and family, BC, Reg Peters (Leticia Smillie) and family, Halifax, Brian Peters and family, New Zealand and daughter, Shirley “Anjali” Peters-Birks (Danny Birks) and family, Alberta. He was predeceased by son, Brent Peters; sisters, Susan Peters, Selma Peters, Hilda Braun (Cornelius) and brother, Pete Peters (Hilda).

Bill was passionate about his career which led to a rather nomadic lifestyle. His teaching started in a rural Manitoba school house in 1947, took them to Ethiopia for three years, Jamaica for one year, many more schools in Manitoba, including seven years with Brandon College, on to Minnesota to complete his Ph.D. and finally to the Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro where he planted roots and retired in 1986. Over the years he was involved in Inter-varsity Christian Fellowship beginning in his undergraduate years and then on an organizational level locally, regionally and nationally. During retirement, he and Gladys went to China for one year to teach English as a second language. Over the past 50 years they were members at Immanuel Baptist Church where Bill was active teaching and on various committees.
