Obituary for Stella Croft

Stella Croft
Croft (Mosher), Stella Mae – Age 93, Valley / Truro, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born on January 2, 1931, in Chester Basin, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Ella (McInnis) Mosher. Stella was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Throughout her life, Stella took great pride in helping others, beginning with caring for her youngest sister, Jeanette, for most of her life, as well as providing childcare for those in her community. She also worked as a waitress in her younger years. Stella enjoyed knitting, reading novels and visits and phone calls from her sisters-in-law, Beatrice Reeves and Carolyn Mossman. She was a loving and caring person who kept her faith in God. She attended Sunday School as a child, attended Sunday service often and sang in the church choir in Chester Basin.

Stella is survived by her sisters-in-law, Beatrice Reeves, Carolyn Mossman and Vivian Mosher; brother-in-law, Art Lloyd as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Croft; her companion of 35 years, Owen Dickson; brothers, Murray, Carl and Bobby Mosher; sisters, Vi Brown, Florence Lloyd and Jeanette Mosher and brother-in-law, Tommy Brown.

Stella was very fortunate to be able to stay in her own home until the time of her passing. The family would like to extend many thanks to neighbours, Joyce and Brian and Evan and Stacey. They would also like to thank Joyce for all her visits, haircuts and help around the house. Much appreciation to the nurses and doctors at the CEHHC Emergency and Palliative Care departments for their exceptional care on her last day as well as VON Homecare.

A Graveside service will take place in Aenon Baptist Church Cemetery, Chester Basin at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Online condolences are available at www.ColchesterCommunity.com.
