Obituary for Marlene Orr (Hamilton)

Marlene Orr (Hamilton)
Marlene Gertrude Orr, 62, Truro passed away peacefully Sunday, July 27, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro after a brief battle with cancer. Born Dec. 2, 1945 in Woodstock, NB, she was the daughter of birth parents, the late Kathleen and Arnold Hamilton. She was raised from the age of 2 by her “mom and dad”, the late Elwood and Marcia Kitchen. She was the beloved wife of 42 years to Robert (Bob) Orr and mother to Anthony John (Cheryl), CFB Shilo, MB and Kelly Lee, CFB Greenwood, NS; grandchildren, Tamara Mary and Brendon Robert; sister to Dale, Rhea, William, James, Richard, Clifford Kitchen and Wayne Kitchen. She was predeceased by brothers, Willard Kitchen, Robert Kitchen, Ronald Kitchen, Chipmond Hamilton and sister, Juanita Appleby. Marlene worked for many years at Sherwin Williams and Tibbetts Paints. She had a passion for decorating family and friend’s houses. Her arts and crafts room gave her many hours of enjoyment making scrapbooks, doll houses and whatever else she could come up with to share with everyone. She was a passionate Bearcat hockey and Cougar soccer mom. She was a supportive military and fire service wife and mother who always ensured Bob and the kids could do their jobs with all of her support. Her grandchildren, while not close by, were always front and foremost in Nanny’s heart. Marlene, Mom, and Nanny, you will be sorely missed by all. A special thank you is extended to the Palliative Care Team of Colchester Regional Hospital and to VON Home Support Team. Cremation has taken place. Interment in Woodstock Rural Cemetery, Woodstock, NB on August 1st at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro. Online condolences may be made at www.colchestercommunity.com
