Obituary for Patricia "Trish" MacKenzie

Patricia "Trish" MacKenzie
Patricia Ann Mackenzie - 58, Truro Heights passed away on Tuesday July 19, 2016 at home in the company of her spouse Duane Brown; son Jared MacKenzie (Karen Greenough) - Halifax; daughter Jillian Hamilton (Fred) - Valley; and her adored fluffy white cats Miss Kitty and Boo. She had her beloved Benson Bear with her too. Trish always enjoyed any moment she got to spend with her children. She greatly treasured the time she spent with her granddaughter Freya Hamilton. Was also very appreciative of the time her mother-in-law Rosalie Brown spent with her for many of the days during her illness. She knew how difficult it was for Rosalie to do this and she mentioned how very proud of her she was for getting through this as well as she did. Trish enjoyed travelling with Duane in their car for camping trips (loved Newfoundland) and for the weekend exploring on roads for hours to nowhere in particular, but enjoying the drive to just somewhere and back. She also gathered many friends amongst the people she worked with that she encountered in her stints as A&W Restaurant manager in several of the Truro area locations, as well as during her various retail sales jobs in the past. Born in Kentville, she was the daughter of (the late) Alvin and Juanita (Currie) Elliott - Murray Siding. She has two sisters Linda MacIntosh - Murray Siding, and Andrea Elliott-Frey (Martin) - Halifax; sisters-in-law Kim McLellan (Scott) - Middle Stewiacke; Shawna Brown (Kevin Preboy) - Ottawa, Ontario; brother-in-law Mike Brown (Sarah King) - Grande Prairie, Alberta; nephews Jamie MacIntosh, Konnor Brown; nieces Ashley Loney, Jenna McLellan, Jessica McLellan, and Taylor Brown. In addition to her father she was predeceased by an infant brother, her father-in-law Alan Brown and her niece Jessica Leigh Doucet. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Her family would like to pass along to the doctors, nurses, and home support workers that their efforts to make Trish comfortable in such a difficult time was very much appreciated. In keeping with Trish’s wishes, Cremation has taken place and the scattering of her ashes will take place privately among family and friends at a later date. Duane, Jared, and Jill miss Trish very much. They would like anyone wishing to join them in remembering and celebrating the life of Patricia MacKenzie; to please join them in doing so at the home of Duane and Trish, 74 Oakwood Drive, Truro Heights, on Sunday, July 24th, 2016. Just drop by anytime from 2-8pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
