Lola May Lynds (nee) Cummings, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 27, 2016 with family by her side. She was born in Wallace, NS to the late Hattie (nee) Boone and Ernest W. Cummings. She is survived by her husband of 61 years J. Stewart Lynds, children Cindy (Todd) Handren, John, Marcel (Lynn), grandchildren Quinn (Angela), Drew, Kelsey, Meghan, Trevor, Jeremy, and Taylor, great-grandchildren Aidan, Molly, and Nora, her brother Robert (Bob) Cummings, PEI, sisters-in-law Betty Cummings, PEI, Olga Cummings, Truro, brother-in-law Wyman Smith, Wallace, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Evelyn, Margaret, Melita, Mina, Tiny, Dorothy, and Jean, brothers Millard, Jim, Bill, and Donnie, nephews Bill Canning and Wayne Cummings. Mom was a lifelong resident of North River where she raised her family. She was a member of the Aenon Baptist Church, North River, adherent to the Truro Wesleyan Church. Mom and Dad built and ran their grocery store in North River, Lynds Grocery from November, 1958 to September, 1963. Along with dad, she was also an owner and broker of J.N. Campbell General Insurance for many years. Mom was a champion sword dancer and taught Highland dancing in Truro. Mom led her life by example, devoted to her family and friends, she was the first to show up with a helping hand and the last one to leave a friend and family members side. She was kind hearted and performed many acts of kindness for family and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 2, 6-8 pm at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, with funeral service held Wednesday, August 3 at 2pm. Burial will be at the Aenon Baptist Cemetery, North River. Donations in her memory may be made to the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or the Aenon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
