Steeves, Ethel Gertrude – 81, Masstown passed away December 5, 2016 in Wynn Park Villa, Truro. Born in Masstown, she was the daughter of the late Hedley and Adeline (Downing) Upham. Ethel grew up on a large family farm and loved to go camping. Her love for her family was well known. She worked as a seamstress at Stanfield’s Ltd. for several years and later at the Truro Regional Hospital as a nurses’ aide. She was well known for her spunk. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by sister, Georgena (Arnold) Dedrick, Great Village; stepdaughters, Jeannie (Randy Lynds) Theriault, Brookside, Susan (Bruce) Whalen, North River; stepsons, Roy, George, Bernard, Donald; special niece, Heather Milligan, Masstown; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Fultie Irving and second husband, Gerald Steeves; sisters, Theresa, Lizzie, Eunice, Olive; brothers, Trueman, Logan, Leslie, Ralph, Basel; stepson, Danny. Cremation has taken place. A time of committal will be held on Friday, December 9 at 11 am in Belmont Cemetery with Father Jim O’Connor officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Hospital. A time to celebrate Ethel’s life will follow the committal at the home of Heather Milligan, 560 Shore Road, Masstown.
