McLean, Sharon Leota, 71, Bible Hill passed away with family at her side on January 30, 2017 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro on April 11, 1945 Sharon was the daughter of the late Warren (Pat) and Leota (Newson) Mahaney. Sharon worked for 35 years in various departments of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. Upon retirement she embraced the next stage of her life. She and Bert, both being lovers of the beach, spent many summers at Seafoam enjoying the company of friends and family. During the winter months they travelled to Hawaii, Nassau and Florida having lots of fun in the sun. Raised to be a community minded person, Sharon decided to follow in her father’s footsteps. She campaigned door to door and was elected to serve on the Bible Hill Village Commission for three terms, one of which she was chairperson. She was an active member of St. David’s United Church, making friendships for life. Besides her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Eldridge (Bert) McLean in 2016. Sharon is survived by her children, Kathy (Ed), P.E.I., Sherry, Bedford; grandchildren, Aleasha, Kameron, Cooper, Bailey, and Chase; great-grandchildren, Carter and Jayda; siblings, Paul (Hazel), Amherst, Susan, Truro. A funeral service will be held at St. David’s United Church, Pictou Road, Bible Hill on Thursday, February 2 at 2 pm. Reception will follow in the church hall. Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date. No flowers by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bible Hill Cemetery, the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
