Brown, Rita Louise – 79 of Truro Heights, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 28, 2018. Born in Dean Settlement, Rita was the daughter of the late Gerald and Mary (Dean) Cox. She worked for many years at Crossley Carpets where she made many friends. Mom loved to read, going to the cottage and travelling with Dad. Family meant everything to her. Rita is survived by her daughters, Cynthia O’Neill (Charles), Valerie Marshall (Craig) and Kim MacKenzie (Ivan); grandchildren, Tyler MacKenzie, Darcy O’Neill, Matthew O’Neill, Paige Murphy, Justin Marshall and Dover O’Neill; great grandchildren, Kyla O’Neill, Ocean O’Neill, Landon O’Neill, Parker MacKenzie, Fynn and Bryer Murphy. She is also survived by her sisters, Irene Brown of Woodstock, ON, Betty Kennedy of Truro, Deanna LaVertue of Clearwater, FL and brother, Dale Cox of Florida. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Walter Brown, along with some of her brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, April 2, with a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3 with Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating, both held in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory may be made to VON Canada, Colchester East Hants Palliative Care Program, Canadian Red Cross or a charity of choice.
