O’Neil, Wayne Donald
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne O’Neil, of Pleasant Valley, at the age of 73. He passed away peacefully into the arms of our Saviour on April 2, 2018 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre.
Born on July 28, 1944, Stewiacke, he was the son of the late Rupert and Helen (Wright) O’Neil. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Helen (Kent); daughters, Paula O’Neil and Heather (Scott) Fraser and grandson, Benjamin Fraser. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin and brother, Gerald O’Neil.
Wayne retired from the NS Power Corporation after more than 30 years of service. He will be remembered by many as a hard worker and loyal friend. He had a love for racehorses and was a member of the Fisherman’s Association. He will pass down his enjoyment of fishing to his grandson Ben, who will take great pride in helping to finish building the boat that his “Gramps” didn’t get to finish beside his good friend Gerry. Dad, may you now feel a heavenly peace with no pain (and all the ice cream and teen burgers you want!).
A special thank you to the exceptional nurses of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre for the wonderful and compassionate care shown in his last days.
Honouring his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has already taken place under the care of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. A graveside service will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations in Wayne’s memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
