COONEY, Eleanor Winnifred
Eleanor Cooney, of Valley, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2018, in QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. Eleanor was born in Montreal, Que., but had lived in Truro for over 28 years. In her final hours, Eleanor was surrounded by those who loved her the most. They held her, sang to her, and shared fond memories. Eleanor will always be remembered for her fierce loyalty to her family, her kind demeanour, and her ability to see the best in everyone. Although her Earthly presence will be missed tremendously, her glowing spirit lives on through the cherished memories of all who had the distinct pleasure of having known and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband and loyal companion of over 50 years, Edwin Cooney; daughter, Andrea Cooney of Truro; daughter, Erin (Jeff) Deuville of Valley; son, Rob (Andy Martin) Cooney of Ottawa; grandchildren, Brett Deuville, Julia Deuville, Breanna Cooney, Finley Cooney and Deliah Cooney; brother, Alan (Carolyn) Blair of Mount Albert, Ont.; sister, Janet (Don Cook) Blair of Coquitlam, B.C.; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held in Valley United Church on August 16th at 3 p.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
