Obituary for Ross Knight

Ross Knight
Ross Douglas Knight – Bible Hill. It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Ross Douglas Knight on March 15, 2022. Born on September 19, 1932, Ross lived a rich life deeply tied to his roots in northern Nova Scotia.

Ross was a plumber by trade and later found a love for teaching when his career path led to education. As a teacher at both the Colchester and Springhill Vocational Schools, Ross helped his students embark on careers in plumbing for more than 35 years. Always there to support his community, Ross was the president of Truro Gyro Club and the president of Portapique Cemetery for more than 30 years.

Ross loved nothing more than to be on the land and spent his retirement years on his family’s heritage farm in Montrose where he gardened extensively. Not one to stand idle, Ross owned and managed many acres of wild commercial blueberries. He also loved to travel and spent nine winters in Mazatlán, Mexico with his beloved wife, Doris.

You only had to shake hands with Ross once to instantly get a sense of his legendary strength, but when that big hand covered his eyes in laughter, you also understood his enormous heart.

Ross is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris (Langille); son, Louis (Suzanne); grandsons, Edward and Jonathan Knight and Ross Dow; great grandchildren, Jack Dow and Olivia Knight; sister, Jean Corbett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alden and Pearl Knight; brothers, Louis and Edward Knight and his daughter, Susan Lynn (Dow).

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19th at 3pm in the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, NS. Live web-cast of the service will begin at 2:58p.m. (AST) and is available along with online condolences at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
