Obituary for Floyd Jollimore

Floyd  Jollimore
Jollimore, Floyd Edward – Age 95, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2022 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Cape John, Pictou County, he was a son of the late Frank and Euphemia (Heighton) Jollimore.

Floyd served with the Merchant Marines. Over the years, Floyd worked several jobs including Canada Packers (where he met his wife of 68 years, Laura, in the Magdalen Islands), Acadian Bus Lines and Eastern Transport (CN Route) where he retired after 25 years as a diesel mechanic. After his retirement, Floyd worked for several excavation companies until he was well into his 70s.

Floyd was a kind man who was loved by everyone who knew him. You could always find him sitting in his garage, waiting for a chat and some laughs with his friends. Floyd loved his morning coffee, his cigarettes and his lotto tickets.

Floyd is survived by his three daughters, Annette (Dave), Ontario, Wanda (Blair), Bible Hill, Pamela (Tim), Bible Hill; grandchildren, David, Jeffrey (Lisa), Derek (Melanie), Ashley, Jennifer (Adam), Dustin; great grandchildren, Travis, Layla, Brody, Blakelyn, Avangeline, Jonathan; brother-in-law, Alex Gillis; several nieces and nephews.

Floyd was predeceased by his wife, Laura; son, Frankie; brothers, Colin and Charlie; half-brothers, Frank and George; sisters, Annie, Prudence, Violet, and Eileen.

Special thanks to the nurses and doctors in the Emergency Department and the Palliative Care Unit, who Floyd referred to as angels.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Floyd’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 20th from 2p.m. until time of funeral service at 3p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, with the Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Terrace Hill Cemetery.
