Obituary for Dana Gloade

Dana Gloade
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather. Dana Germaine Gloade, Age 49, of Millbrook First Nation, began his journey to the spirit world on September 4, 2023.

Dana, born September 29th,1973, began his life at the Hotel Dieu in Tracadie, New Brunswick, to proud parents, Donna Gloade and Percy Somerville. He lived for a time in Esgenoopetitj First Nation with his Somerville family until he moved to Millbrook First Nation with his mother. Dana continued to call Millbrook home for much of his life, with several stays in Esgenoopetitj, also travelling to other cities with his sister and best friend, Kim, eventually moving to Dartmouth where his journey ended.

Dana had a keen interest in computers and took training to become a computer technician. He was a big Raiders fan and loved gangster rap music, with his favorite rapper being Scarface. Dana had a big heart, and he was kind and thoughtful. Dana also had a great sense of humour, he was a trickster, and always loved sassing everyone. Whenever you had a conversation with Dana, you would always be guaranteed to chuckle. He loved to make people laugh, especially his mother, with his silly dances or constantly cracking jokes.

Dana became a father at a young age to three sons, Tyson, Jeremy, and Brad. Eventually he fathered another child, his daughter, Madison. Dana loved his family with all his heart, despite not always being available to them, he continued to love them very much. He always beamed with pride when he spoke about his kids. If you were to ask Dana what his greatest accomplishment in life was, he would tell you it would be his children and many grandchildren. He always asked about his kids and grandkids. He loved hearing stories about them or seeing pictures. His dream was always to have all his children together, with him, for special occasions or even just to visit. Dana eventually met and married his best friend, Tammy, and became a stepfather to her children.

Dana was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Gertrude Cloud-Barnaby and Henry Mitchell; his maternal aunts, Delia Barnaby and Glenda Barnaby; uncles, Joseph Randall Barnaby Vincent Cloud; paternal grandparents, Eva and Herman Somerville; his father, Percy Somerville; paternal aunt, Carmel Martin; uncles, Ronnie Somerville and Garth Somerville; sister, Kimberley Gloade; brother, Jason “JJ” Barnaby-Gloade, and niece, Scarlett Currie.
