Obituary for Carl Warner

Carl  Warner
Warner, Carl Albert of Debert, passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 87 years. Born in Digby, he was a son of the late Albert and Henrietta Warner.

Carl spent his working career in municipal administration, including the Town of Digby, Town of Bridgetown and County of Colchester and retired in 1983 as Secretary-Treasurer of the Greater Victoria School Board, Victoria, BC. After retirement, he became involved in municipal politics and served nine years on the Colchester County Council, including three years as Warden. Carl also served on the Colchester-East Hants Amalgamated School Board. He was active in Boy Scouts in Digby and Bridgetown and served on the Digby and Debert Fire Brigades.

He is survived by his daughters, Janice (Alfred) MacArthur, Moncton and Julie (Ron) Healey, Bible Hill; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Alan Nichols, California, USA and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Carl was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Greta (Stevens) Warner and his siblings, Ardis Moore, Verna (Peter) Applejohn, Paul, Earl and Ann Warner.

Carl was happiest when working on his property and was very meticulous about the condition of the lawn and hedges. He was an avid camper and snowmobiler. He and Greta spent time every year for 35 years at their favourite camping spot, Keji National Park. Carl also enjoyed his trips to New England, California, Europe and across Canada.

In keeping with Carl’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place with burial at a later date in the Middle Road Cemetery, Debert.
