Condolences

Condolence From: Dave Mansell
Condolence: Our sincere condolences to Carl’s family and friends, upon learning of his passing. I first met Carl in 1978 when he hired me as young man with limited HR experience, from a logging operation on the Queen Charlotte Islands (now Haida Gwaii). Although my wife and enjoyed our 5 year stint in the Queen Charlottes, with two young children, we were looking for an opportunity to get back to civilization! Carl gave me that opportunity and it opened a lifetime career for me, as an HR Director in government. I only wish I had the chance to visit him in Nova Scotia and thank him personally once again before he passed. We parted ways when Carl retired from his position as Secretary-Treasurer for the Greater Victoria School Board. I will never forget he and Greta, each in their own trucks packed to the hilt, walkie- talkies in hand so they could stay in touch on the roads. Off they went, big smiles on their faces, and very excited about their trip back home! I admired Carl for all his business and personal attributes that made him one of the best people I have ever worked with in my career. I tried my best to learn as much as I could from Carl, the strength and tenacity he showed in dealing with an extremely demanding position was exemplary. Quite frankly, I don’t know how he did it. Rest in peace my friend.
Warm wishes, Dave Mansell

Condolence: Dear family of Carl,
Thinking of you as you travel another bend in life's road. I enjoyed Carl's visits to "Table 2" in the dining room and the good natured joking we shared with each other. I will miss my friend.
Sincerely,
Don Hollett

Condolence: I was saddened to hear of my Uncle Carl's passing. I will always remember my visits to Debert to visit Uncle Carl and Aunt Greta as it was a highlight of my summer every year as a youngster. I loved listening to his stories whether they were reflections of his past career or just current local gossip they were always entertaining. Uncle Carl was thoughtful and inquisitive and had an incredible work ethic and attention to detail. As a retiree he essentially built his house by himself, was a volunteer fireman, and worked tirelessly maintaining the farm. He was a great man in so many ways. Rest In Peace Uncle Carl. - Mike
