Obituary for Lillian Faulkner (Murphy)

Lillian Faulkner (Murphy)
Faulkner, Lillian Roberta – Bible Hill. With saddened hearts we announce the passing of our loving mother, Lillian Roberta Faulkner, age 88, who left us peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 24, 2023, in Vimy Court, Bible Hill.

Lillian was born on August 21, 1935, in Springhill to the late Florence Snaire and Harold Murphy. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Curtis King Faulkner; brother, Jack Murphy and sister, Betty LaLonde.

She is survived by her children, Mary Dempsey (George), Pine Tree, Stephen Faulkner (Joanne), Kemptown, Cheryl Frizzell (Bruce), River John, and Brenda DeHaan, Valley. She is also lovingly remembered by fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-five great grandchildren.

Lillian moved to Truro and worked at the Lewis Hat Company, and then at Stanfield’s. She left for a bit to pursue a secretary course and later returned to Stanfield’s where she worked in payroll until her retirement in August 1996. She was the president of the Ladies Auxiliary Legion, Branch #26 in Truro for two terms. Her voluntary work brought her a lot of enjoyment. Lillian enjoyed bingo, and Friday night card games with her sister-in-law, Nin Purdy.

Her family would like to send a special thank you to Joyce Osborne, who gave love and went over and above providing care and kindness to mom and our dad before they passed. We would also like to thank the care workers at Vimy Court who were amazing with mom for her four years of living there.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #26, Truro.

Cremation has taken place. A family visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4th from 1-2pm followed by a public service at 2pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Interment in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley for both Lillian and Curtis in the Spring 2024. Online condolences at www.ColchesterCommunity.com.
