Davis, Richard “Rick” Phillip – 67, Halifax, passed away suddenly at home on April 16, 2019. Rick was born in Truro to Ralph Manning Davis (Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building, QEII) and the late Elizabeth Gertrude (Harvey) Davis. The oldest of four, he is survived by his brothers, Kelvin (Marlene), Stephen (David LeFort) and Mark. Rick gave three women the gift of being sisters, Tanya (Tony Comeau), Maria (Sean Moyaert) and Ashley (Adrian Van der Ploeg). He also leaves behind beautiful granddaughters, Hannah Davis-Comeau, Grace Davis-Comeau and Elizabeth Van der Ploeg. He will also be missed by nieces, Jessica Davis, Michelle Davis and Angela Baskerville along with extended family and friends from Truro, the Annapolis Valley, Halifax and beyond. He lived his life enjoying long conversations with friends and family, following his favourite sports teams, art venues and enjoying the beauty that Halifax has to offer. An avid reader and lifelong learner, Rick found a healthy escape in the pages of many books. We would like to express our gratitude to friends who kept in touch with him, asked about him and kept him in their hearts. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, June 10th at 11 a.m. in the Watson Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting

Sorry about Rick taking an early departure. He and the rest of the Burnyeat St. gang used to get into all kinds of shinanigans at the park. I remember him helping a little with the cutting down of a very large, dead hemlock behind Christensen's house in '67. I think it was Kelvin and I who did most of the work. (all week with a hatchet) Rick was one of the cooler older teens and we were always glad to get his encouragement in some of our foolish endeavours. I can still remember everyone standing up on toboggans speeding down Priest Hill, ready to jump off at the last second with the barricade at the bottom. You either went under the pole or jumped off into the snow bank. Our smiles were permanently frozen to our faces. Time goes by so quickly. Take care. Enjoy the little things. Tim Johnson
