Hillman, Christopher “Chris” Wade, age 62 - Born on August 1, 1956 in Toronto, Ontario. Died June 4, 2019 in Truro, Nova Scotia at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, where Chris spent his last six months in Palliative Care after being diagnosed with cancer. Chris was pre-deceased by his father, Gordon Hillman; mother, Ruth Hazel Hillman (nee Winfrey), and favorite cousin, Neil Hillman (survived by wife Kathie). He is survived by his estranged but loved children, Christopher, Steven, Cheryl, and Matthew; his loving older sister, Carol Ann Yaniw (Phil); sisters, Gail Lynn (Rick) Johnson, Nancy (Harry)Chamberlain; nephews and nieces, Todd (Petya) Yaniw, Chadd (Meghan) Yaniw, Tammy (Mike) Lawrie, Shawn Parsons, Angie/Shane, Debbie/Craig, Andy, Paul, Michael, and Laurie; aunts, Faye and Joyce/George, and his best friend, Reg Hyde. Chris reluctantly left his friends in Toronto as a young teenager when dad, Gord, was transferred to Nova Scotia. They lived in the Enfield area on Grand Lake. Chris was good with mechanical things and loved working on cars. He worked for CN Rail before going out on his own as a self-employed mechanic in Truro and the surrounding area. He became known locally as a great mechanic. Chris enjoyed spending the Christmas season with sister, Carol Ann, brother-in-law Phil, nephews Todd and Chadd, and other family and friends in Waterloo, Ontario. He loved hockey and was a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also loved camping, fishing and hunting. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. I had the opportunity to. Get to know Chris because I visited him weekly through the Hospice Society as a volunteer. Chris was always happy to see me as well as all the other Hospice volunteers. He became friends with us all and was well liked. Even though he was in a lot of pain due to his shoulder he still respected our visits. Chris will always be a Special person to all of us and we shall never forget him. With Sympathy. Sandra Murphy and all Hospice Volunteers. Rest In Peace Chris. We miss you!
