Condolences

Condolence From: Steven Van de Sande
Condolence: Dear June,
Our most heartfelt sympathies to you from myself and my family. Lloyd was a man of tremendous spirit and humility and it was always a pleasure to speak with him. I first met Lloyd as a customer in the early days of my business. I remember when he learned of my Dutch heritage, a connection instantly formed between us. I appreciated Lloyd's support and his friendship over the years. I will miss his visits and the many stories he relayed about his wartime experiences in Holland and elsewhere.
Although they never met in person, Lloyd formed a special bond with my son, James. James has always been very interested in the North Nova Scotia Highlanders (his great grandfather's regiment), and Lloyd was so kind to share many correspondences with him. Through his NNSH stories, Lloyd helped James (and all of us) to feel a connection with a family member he had never been able to meet.
Lloyd was a true gentleman and it was an honour to have known him. The world was a better place with him in it, and he will be greatly missed.
With Sympathy,
Steven, Lori, James and Anna Van de Sande

Condolence: I wish to express my condolences on the passing of your husband Lloyd. He served with my father in the North Novas and I got to know a little bit about him through my grandson James VandeSande.I never got a chance to thank him for the picture of the North Novas that James had framed and given me as a gift which now hangs proudly on my dining room wall which serves to remind us of what they all gave. It is with deep regret that I never got to meet him.
Sincerely David Feltmate

Condolence: June, first of all, my most sincere condolences on the passing of Lloyd. He was a wonderful man, with an amazing and heroic story. I was honoured enough to meet you and Lloyd a few years back while you were purchasing a quilt from my Mother. I went to the car to put the quilt in it and noticed his license plate. When I told him that I too was military he instantly opened up to me and shared some amazing stories from his time in the War. He truly was a War hero. In the years since then we have kept in touch and I remember while visiting your home he took me on the tour and showed me all of his military memorabilia. The stories he told were both incredible and heart wrenching. That same day he played me a tune on his harmonica and we shared a glass of Spumante. It is a day I will never forget and I will truly cherish the harmonica CD he gave to me. Again, it was an honour to meet him and share our stories. Fair winds and following seas, Lloyd. Thank you for your service and friendship.
Sincerely, Petty Officer First Class Diana Frizzle
